Destination: Lucena City

Passport application. Where to go?  Manila or Lucena? I chose the latter. Anything but Manila. (I’m not really fond of going to Metro Manila.)

Woke up at three am hoping to leave for Calamba at 4am.

Los Baños to Calamba (Calamba Crossing) – 20 Php

Calamba Central Terminal to Turbina – 10 Php

Turbina to Lucena (Arias) – 88Php (ordinary bus)

Arias to Metro Pacific Mall-Lucena (Bayan) – 9Php

The bus left Turbina at 5 am and I arrived at Metro Pacific at 8:30.

When you arrive at the Pacific Mall, the main entrance is  – as expected, closed. Mall hours start at 10am. You will be instructed to use the back entrance of the mall used by the employees. You will find a group pf people waiting at the back entrance, do NOT wait with them. Ask the guard where the line for DFA is and he’ll tell you to have your things checked and then proceed to the 3rd floor.

Don’t expect the  comfort room flush to work when you arrive. Remember, technically, the mall is still closed. You’ll find a LOT of people in front of the DFA office.

1. Ask the guard for a copy of the Passport Application Form (no need to download from the website). The forms that the guard distribute have numbers at the upper right corner. That will be your number. Accomplish the form and make sure you have all the requirements (check if you have the updated birth certificate from National Statistics Office. During the time this was written, it’s the  yellow and bluish color paper – NOT the orange one.)

2. A few minutes before 8am, the guard starts letting people in. Kudos to the DFA Lucena guards and staff members – polite but firm in implementing order. Upon entering, put your accomplished application form in the tray you’ll find in the window before Window 1. (Or you can just ask for the assistance of the staff.)

3. Take a seat and wait for your number to be displayed. There’s free water by the way.:)

The Passport Application/ Renewal process requires you to undergo three processes/ pass through three windows.

Windows 1,2, and 3 screens and verify the required documents you have presented.

Cashier (Middle window) is the only place where you pay for the processing of your passport. Do try to prepare an exact amount to facilitate faster transactions.

After paying, you wait for your name to be called in Windows 4 and 5 (Encoding). This where you check if the encoded information is correct. Check the spelling and other minor details which may have been omitted or misread (Your handwriting isn’t readable at all times :)).

Once you have passed Window 4 or 5 for encoding, you may opt to have your passport delivered to you via LBC. The fee is 100 Php and the passport will be delivered 24 hours after release of passport. Say your passport will be released at January 7, your passport will be delivered on January 8.

Once you have undergone all these, do remember to thank the guards and the staff for their help.

So you have finished you passport application, how to get back to Elbi?

Take the Arias jeepney (9 Php). Tell the driver to drop you off Arias bus stop. From there, ride a bus going to Alabang, Cubao, etc. These buses will pass Turbina. From Turbina Flying V, ride a jeepney to Crossing Terminal. From the central terminal, get on the UP College jeepney. In the event that you arrived in Calamba very late and the terminal is closed, jeepneys going to Sta. Cruz, San Pablo, and UP College may be found in front of 7-Eleven and Chowking along the highway.

  1. To the LBC of DFA Lucena City,I leave in Lusacan Tiaong,I apply my passport renewal,I want to LBC to deliver my passport, the date of delivery is January 28,2011, but until my passport they don’t deliver.I want it urgently now. How can I claim my passport?Did i go to DFA office in releasing window?or I go to LBC table? Please reply through my email,or send me sms through my mobile of 09106630277.

    1. Hi Vilma. Try contacting 09226113191 (this is the mobile number of the LBC office) or (6342) 710-4526 for DFA Lucena office.

You can also visit and enter your package’s tracking number (refer to LBC receipt) at the site’s TRACK your package/remittance (left side of the site).

      Hope this helps.

    1. I don’t think you’d need an appointment. You just need to get there really early (try 7 am). Kindly ask the DFA Lucena guard where to get the numbered/coded printed application forms. The number/code in the form determines the order of participants that will be accommodated.

      1. dear madam im rosemarie neri of latag lipa city batangas im applying renewal of my pasport aplly last feb 18 release march 15 until now ala p dn bakit nmn po ganun

    1. I believe postal IDs are valid. However, you’d be needing another valid ID.
Usually, two IDs minimum yung hinihingi kapag na-transact.
Just to make sure, try giving them a call.
Kindly refer to the contact details in earlier responses.

  4. urgent lang po. is postal I.D. accepted as valid I.D. to get passport. i dont have any other I.D..pls respond asap.ty

  5. hello sir/madam,

Sir/madam it is true na yung printing machine sa central bank ay may problema kya delay yung passport releasing?kasi poh need ko yung passport ng anak ko para makakuha na poh ng visa at permit to travel from DSWD, April na kasi poh yung punta dito sa China.Sana poh matulungan ninyo ko kung totoo poh yung reason nila almost one month kasi.Maraming salamat poh.

    1. Sorry, I honestly don’t know anything about
the delay caused by printing problems.

Kindly contact DFA Lucena (see earlier reply posts)
or in the event that you’re overseas, you can ask your relatives
in the Philippines call the DFA office.

As long as the requirements are complete,
passports can be processed in a week.
I’m sorry I can’t be of more help.

    1. Kindly try calling the official office phone number (landline) of DFA Lucena.
Mobile numbers can easily be changed.

  7. goodday, ask ko lng po kung pede kumuha ng 4application forms for my family..ako n lng po ang kukuha ng form nila..pede ba un? kasi a week or 2 pa ata ung it possible? thank you.. panu po pla pumunta ng pacific mall from grand central terminal galing? im from mnila pa..mtagal pa kasi ang appointment nmin sa dfa may pa.. nid sana nmin is end of march my passport na kmi.. thank you.. please relpy po…i appreciate it!

    1. I believe the person needs to be present for the passport application
(I’m not sure if it’s the same with the renewal.)

For DFA Lucena, I believe the numbers in the form are valid for the day.
You can confirm this information by calling the telephone number provided
in an earlier reply. You can finish the application process within the day
but you would really need to be early and make sure all your requirements
are complete and updated (especially NSO birth certificates).

It’s best to call DFA Lucena first to confirm if they’re operational
during the day you plan to go. I applied sometime December and there were days
when they weren’t processing applications because the have something similar
to systems maintenance (That’s not the exact term). Good thing I called first.

From Buendia, I think there are buses to Greenstar, HM, JAC buses Lucena, Batangas, Sta. Cruz, etc.
Kindly confirm this information with people more familiar with the area.

If you’ll be coming from Manila, you won’t need to go to Calamba Central Terminal.
You can get off at Turbina Terminal. There’s a bus to Lucena from there.

  8. I been expecting my passport since Feb 26, but until now wala pa rin. It’s hard to connect to DFA Lucena’s hotline because its always busy. I came from Alabang and it would require me 3 hrs to get there just to follow up my passport kasi wala rin namang reply ung LBC kasi di pa nafoforward ng DFA ung passport sa kanila. The last time I called up DFA meron nga daw problema sa printing machine kya nakapending ung mga passport. What if my nakabook ng flight knowing na marerelease ung passport mo?Napakalaking hassle to!Sana meron man lang silang back up na if ever iyong machine na un masira meron pang isa.

    1. Hi Charmaine.
